About Elsie

Elsie has been providing counselling services for more than 12 years and is a Registered Counsellor and Clinical Member with the Singapore Association of Counselling. She has a Bachelor in Behavioural Science from Monash University and a Masters in Guidance and Counselling with James Cook University. She has worked in both government and non-government agencies dealing with a wide range of clientele, with diverse backgrounds and different social economic status.

She does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. She is invested in emphasizing a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health and wellness.

Her style is collaborative, warm, compassionate, interactive, respectful and unconditionally accepting. Listening empathically and creating a safe environment for clients to feel heard, connected and understood.

She agrees with what Alice Miller said: “Every human being has a central need to express himself to show himself to the world as he really is—in word, in gesture, in behaviour, in every genuine utterance from the baby’s cry to the artist ‘s creation.” So that in doing, they can become more fulfilled in their life.

She has worked with a variety of different presentations ranging from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, suicidal and self-harming, family and relationship issues, stress and burn out, anger management, eating disorders, borderline personality, compulsive disorder, teenage and identity issues, old age, loneliness and existential concerns.

Elsie uses evidence-based therapies and continues to seek ongoing updates to her skills and knowledge base. She is familiar with Person Cantered Approach, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Emotions Focused Couple Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Family Systems Theory.
